Brass Instruments

No matter what your age or abilities, musical instruments are a great way to start a hobby or even a career. Musical instruments have been shown to help children develop certain skills and help adults relieve stress and find a much needed creative outlet. And because of the variety of musical instruments that are available, you have the option to choose any type of instrument to perfectly fit your style and unique interests. Always a popular choice, brass instruments are available in a variety of styles for each individual preference. Brass instruments include instruments such as the French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, trumpet, and more.

The French horn is a popular style when it comes to brass instruments and consists of a twelve-foot-long tube that is coiled into a circular shape and flares at the end. The French horn is played by a musician who blows air into a mouthpiece and controls the sound by fingering three valves on the instrument.

Another one of the many types of brass instruments, the trombone utilizes a slide mechanism and a long tube that is folded and overlapped in the center.

A euphonium is similar to a tuba and is sometimes referred to as a tenor tuba. It consists of three or four valves and is often used in marching bands.

The tuba is a new addition to the many types of brass instruments and is by far the largest type of brass instrument and also produces the lowest sound. Unlike other brass instruments, the tuba is held vertically when played.
